Paypal Payment Logo(s)Our younger alumni rarely, if ever, write checks. For most, they have gone the way of having an attendant put gas in your car or going to the store to pay a bill.

For all our tech savvy graduates and friends, younger and older, your Alumni Association will now offer an electronic option, PayPal, for donations and dues.

PayPal has three big benefits: it is widely used, so there is strong familiarity and trust around the service; it is very convenient and it secures your personal information. Best of all, it saves the time and bother of writing and mailing a check.

You do not have to have your own PayPal account to send money to the Alumni Association. A link will be provided in information sent by the Association which directs you to PayPal and walks you through the payment steps.

While your Association offers this electronic choice, please remember that paper checks are always received with appreciation and gratitude.

Good Times, Good Friends

Remember Them

On Friday, September 23, 2016, a glorious fall day, over 50 alumni and their guests gathered to celebrate and dedicate our Memorial Walkway, located in the front of the school.

Paver bricks and a bench, engraved with the names and dates of many special people and events, had memorial candles placed next to them. After a brief ceremony hallowing the space and naming those recognized, the outdoor ceremony concluded with the singing of the Alma Mater followed by a reception at which special memories were shared.

Each year, on the Friday of Alumni Weekend, we will be dedicating and memorializing the new pavers, benches and trees. This year, we will gather on September 22, 2017 to pay homage to our Bennett family. Everyone is cordially invited to attend.

If you would like to create a memory for a Bennettonian, living or deceased, please contact Neil Lange at 716-308-5451 or Bricks range from $75 to $200 depending on size and placement. Tree sponsorship is $850 and granite benches start at $3750.

Feel free to come by the school anytime and visit the garden. “Bennett, Bennett, Thine Forever!”

The Bennett Alumni Association will be holding its 2017 Annual Meeting on September 24 at Milos Restaurant in Williamsville. At that time, we will be celebrating 2017 nominees into the Bennett High School Alumni Honor Roll. The Tigers Live On

Bennett Enjoys Exciting Sports News!

Headline:  Buffalo News, February 2, 2017, sports page C3

National Signing Day Notebook (excerpt)

Bennett had plenty of reasons to smile Wednesday and not just because Isaiah McDuffie (Boston College) and Brandon Brown (Central Michigan) headlined a list of 10 athletes who earned student-athlete opportunities at either the collegiate or prep school level.

Buffalo Public School Athletic Director Aubrey Lloyd and his district superior David Mauricio confirmed that the Bennett name will live on in area sports lore. Effective the next academic year, all athletic teams at the school will be Tigers.

Football was slated to be the last of the teams to represent Bennett due to a phase-out plan that has since been aborted by the school district. The reboot of the school last September in which the district admitted freshmen for the first time in three years, along with the influence from Bennett Alumni, appears to have played a role in the plan to bring back the Bennett name in sports. Non-football athletes at the school are competing with Middle Early College since there weren’t enough students to field complete teams in other sports. (Football is a merged outfit with other nearby schools that don’t offer sports.)

The Alumni Association is grateful for the past and continuing work of everyone who contributed to the Redesign. The front-page picture could have included hundreds who helped save our school. Thanks to everyone involved we can enjoy its proud past and look forward to its promising future.

Honor Garden and Memorial Walkway

A beautiful garden has been built in front of the school and was dedicated in a ceremony on September 23. It features landscaping, a lovely place to sit and the engraved names of those who chose to be part of creating this special place. Stop by and read the “bricks” that have been named and reflect on the ties that bind so many to Bennett. If you are interested n adding a name or sentiment, please call Bennett at 716-816-4250 and leave a message for Neil Lange. He will return your call with the details.
